Week 1 Phone Home

After the first real week of class, I feel optimistic about Japanese. Everyone is very polite and friendly, and they make progress quickly. I remember struggling to remember hiragana when I began to learn as a twelve year old, yet everyone picks it up almost as if it were nothing. I'm also pleased to see my handwriting is improving. An unfortunate consequence of self-study is that I'd developed many bad habits without a mentor to keep track of my progress, so it took until this year for me to realize I'd been writing some characters such as 「も」 out of order. Me trying to make my kana look like the perfect examples. It may seem strange that this blog is space-themed, and I would agree. My only reason for it is that I like space and science fiction. Cowboy Bebop is my favourite anime, I love the Phantasy Star  series of video games, I've read Dune,  and my boyfriend and I have been playing way too much BallisticNG as of late. Introduction

 Greetings Earthlings! I chose to study Japanese because I would like to speak to a wider variety of people. Coming from a remote, rural part of the planet has limited me socially, and learning languages is a great way to break out of that shell. Of course, I am also interested in the books, music, and video games produced in Japan. My goal is to read the Private Detective Kogoro Akechi series entirely in Japanese, though it'll take me a while to achieve it. こんにちは! にほんごはむずかしいですけど、みんながんばってください。わたしのしゅみはどくしょとテレビゲームです。わたしのペットはねことうさぎです。よろしくおねがいします。
