Dear Hypnos
I used to listen to a lot of Vocaloid in middle and high school, but dropped off recently. One of the few songs I still come back to is "Dear Hypnos" by EZFG, a song about burnout. Mostly I just like how it sounds, but it's also super impressive that the music video was made from scratch with cotton balls. Even the lyrics are made out of them. While I understand more lyrics than I did in high school, there's still quite a bit that goes over my head. 「目指す」looks like it means "eye finger" from the kanji, but it means "to aim at or try for." 「ならやむなし」was harder to look up because it wasn't in Jisho, my e-dictionary of choice, but I'm pretty sure 「やむなし」means "to have one's hands tied, be unable to do anything." 「なら」is a conditional particle that means "if." 「思い込んでた」is an exciting phrase to learn because we've spent so much time learning ~と思う form. It means "to be convinced of," with 「でた」being a casual form of ~でいた, which means the action was ongoing. This song has inspired me to go back to other Vocaloid songs to see how much I understand now versus when I was younger. I was surprised by how much I knew, and how easy it was to look up what I didn't know.
